In-House Design & CAD Engineering
A cold storage room is only as good as the design behind it. Get the temperature loads, panel thickness, or door placement wrong on paper and you pay for it later in energy bills, failed inspections, and rooms that never hold spec.
AIP designs cold storage systems with in-house CAD designers – not an outsourced draftsman who has never built a panel. You give us the general outline; we fill in the details with decades of cold storage experience and hand you a design that’s ready to manufacture and install.
What we do
Needs analysis
We start by defining the scope. Before anything gets drawn, AIP engineering evaluates the critical factors – inside and outside temperature, joist spans, and wall heights – so the design is built around how your room actually gets used, not a generic template.
CAD design and specification
Our in-house CAD designers give you superior accuracy and greater clarity. We identify your material and method requirements, then lock down the specifics: panel thickness, choice of finishes, door size, and location. The result is a cost-effective, detailed design delivered on a realistic timeline.
Display door layout — Anthony glass display doors
Retail and grocery rooms live or die on the display doors. When your project calls for glass display doors, we design the room around them from the start. AIP specifies Anthony 101 Series glass display doors into new cooler layouts, positioning door runs, framing, and panel dimensions so everything integrates cleanly and holds thermal performance. The 101 Series is DOE compliant with Air Shield anti-condensate protection, so the doors we design in are engineered to hold temperature without sweating – which only works if the surrounding panel layout is right. We don’t manufacture display doors ourselves – we design to integrate the industry’s proven systems. See our display door solutions → or review the Anthony door selection guide.
Why the design phase matters
Most cold storage failures trace back to a decision made on paper. Under-specified insulation, a door placed where it fights the refrigeration, a layout that ignores an immovable drain or support column. By the time it shows up as a warm spot or a spiking energy bill, fixing it means reopening finished work.
Designing with a contractor who also manufactures and installs the panels means the person drawing your room already knows how it gets built – so the spec is realistic, not aspirational.
The AIP difference
Single-source
AIP designs, manufactures, and installs cold storage systems from one facility in Taunton, MA. The team designing your room is the same team that builds and installs it - the only company in the industry that controls the full design-to-install spectrum.
In-house CAD designers
Your design is done by AIP engineers equipped with industry-leading tools, not outsourced. That's how we keep accuracy high and turnaround fast.
35 years of cold storage experience
We've specified every type of refrigerated room and door on the market. You bring the outline; we bring the detail.
Built to be built
Because we manufacture on a proprietary continuous-line machine and install with our own crews, our designs are grounded in what we can actually produce and install - up to 14,000 sq ft of panel per day.
