AIP's FAQs

What products does AIP manufacture?

American Insulated Panel (AIP) designs and manufactures a full line of insulated metal panels, custom cold-storage doors, and complete walk-in cooler/freezer enclosures—all built in the U.S. from their Taunton, MA facility.

  • Insulated metal panels: AIP produces panels like their “National Panel” series with widths of 46″ and lengths up to 40′, and thicknesses ranging from 2″ up through 10″ depending on insulation requirements. These panels cover both walls and ceilings and are engineered for cooler-room, freezer-room and industrial refrigerated applications.

  • Cold-storage doors: AIP builds custom swing, sliding, and bi-parting doors designed to integrate with their panel systems. These doors are manufactured in-house and offer premium insulation, tight seals, and heavy-duty hardware built for high-use environments.

  • Complete enclosures: For clients needing turnkey solutions, AIP offers fully assembled walk-in coolers and freezers, including panels, doors, trim, hardware, and full installation services. This one-stop capability helps reduce coordination and speed up project schedules.

Builders, contractors and owners can specify panel widths, thicknesses, insulation types, door sizes and finishes based on the operational conditions of the project—from moderate-temperature beverage rooms to ultra-low freezer warehouses.

Are AIP’s panels and doors made in the USA?

AIP’s panels, doors, and accessories are built entirely in the U.S. using high-quality materials and strict fabrication standards. This commitment supports American manufacturing and gives builders more control over timelines and quality assurance.

What types of doors can AIP build or install?

American Insulated Panel (AIP) offers a comprehensive range of cold‑storage doors, including swing, sliding, bi‑parting, personnel, and display doors. These doors are manufactured or supplied by AIP to meet a variety of application needs, from standard walk‑in coolers to heavy‑duty freezer environments.

Key aspects of AIP’s door offerings include:

  • Swing and sliding doors manufactured in‑house: AIP uses its own carpentry, sheet‑metal and welding shop to build custom swing and slider doors to spec.

  • Third‑party premium door manufacturers supplied and installed: For certain high‑performance or specialty door types, AIP supplies and installs doors from trusted manufacturers such as Frank Door, Chase, among others.

  • Insulation and materials designed for cold‑storage conditions: AIP’s doors use insulation cores and sealed construction designed to hold airtight performance, heavy‑duty hardware, and materials that stand up to low‑temperature, high‑use environments.

  • Wide variety of door types and custom configurations: AIP supports everything from standard freezer doors to high‑traffic pass‑through doors, display‑type cooler doors, roll‑up or bi‑parting systems, and doors sized or configured for unusual building layouts.

Builders, contractors and owners should consider the following when selecting doors from AIP:

  • The traffic volume and door cycles (swing vs sliding vs bi‑parting)

  • The temperature differential and whether freezer or cooler conditions apply

  • Complementing panel specifications (so door insulation, gaskets, and frame match panel performance)

  • Potential need for specialty door hardware or vendor‑specific features (e.g., Frank Door automatic options)

  • The integration of door and panel installation for alignment and sealing

Overall, AIP’s door range is designed to align with its panel systems, ensuring seamless integration, thermal performance and reduced field coordination.

What is the AmeriFlex flexible door system and where is it used?

The AmeriFlex flexible door system is built for areas with frequent traffic and temperature fluctuations, such as processing rooms, warehouses, and loading docks. Its heavy-duty vinyl construction improves workflow efficiency while maintaining temperature control, making it a better alternative to plastic strip curtains.

Can I order replacement doors or hardware only?

Yes. Builders can order replacement cold storage doors, panels, or trim without installation. AIP also supplies replacement hardware and accessories to help extend the lifespan of existing systems

Installation, Design, and Repair

Does AIP provide design assistance for new cold storage construction?

Yes. AIP offers complete design-assist services to help builders plan layouts, select insulation types, and match panel thickness to temperature needs. This collaborative process improves performance and shortens project timelines.

What types of repair services do you offer?

AIP performs on-site repairs locally throughout New England for panels, doors, and cold storage enclosures. Technicians can replace damaged panels, adjust door alignment, and restore seals to maintain peak thermal performance.

Can AIP handle uneven floors or obstructions during installation?

Yes. AIP’s installers are experienced in adapting to real-world conditions such as sloped or irregular flooring. They use precision cutting and sealing methods to maintain a consistent barrier even in non-standard spaces.

How fast can AIP complete a typical installation project?

Installation time varies by project size and complexity, but most small to mid-scale cold storage builds are completed within days once panels are delivered. AIP coordinates shipping, staging, and manpower to minimize downtime.

What warranty or quality assurance does AIP provide?

AIP stands behind its panels and doors with product warranties and comprehensive quality control at every stage of production. Each order is inspected for fit, finish, and performance before shipment.
